Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Bass Tournament September 15, 2007
The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters converged on Lake Shelbyville Saturday September 15, 2007 for the Annual Bass Tournament. The field of teams found the first cold front of the upcoming fall season had arrived. The fishermen came to Eagle creek for launching where the air temp had dipped to 40 degrees and the surface temp of the water was 68-70 degrees. When the weigh-in began the teams had caught a lot of fish but had trouble finding the 14 inch legal fish. James Bray, of Urbana and Bob Gumbal, of Mahomet from local #44 tipped the scales with 7.66 pounds winning the tournament. James and Bob found the larger fish swallow and using Texas rigs caught the winning weight. Placing second was Richard Westbrook and Joe Heilguist, Local #250 with 6.12 pounds. Third place honors went to Milton Exeix and George Keustofer, Local #174 with 5.22 pounds. Flipping a jig in standing water and earning big fish of the tournament was Lucas Williams from Windsor, Illinois Local #44 with a 5.06 pound bass.
