The Illinois Walleye Trail converged on the City of
Spring Valley, Illinois for its Fifth Tournament of the 2006 season.
Teams found the weather stable with mid 60's air temp, clear skies and
river conditions with a foot clarity, but still a little high from
recent rains, and water temps in the 50's. The Saugers are now in
various stages of the annual spawn, with some spawned out and others
spawning.
The team of Randy Carroll and Lee Scott from Oswego,
Illinois won the tournament with a 6 fish limit of 14.66 pounds earning
them $1,465.00. Randy and Lee found the fish to be more aggressive using
Lead Core and Crank baits upstream from Spring Valley.
2nd place honors went to Jim Schneider and Kevin Kearney
from Batavia with 13.61 pounds earning them $760.00 along with the
$100.00 Gift certificate compliments of Hennepin Marine as the first
Lund boat placing in the money.
John Dalzot, Spring Valley and Tom Giachetto Jr. Ladd,
Illinois finished third with 13.33 pounds cashing a check for $490.00.
This tournament saw several Walleyes coming to the scale
with big fish honors going to Adam Sandor and Paul Durdan from Ottawa
with a 4.46 pound Walleye worth $635.00.
